Don your Purple!

Up until 2 years ago I thought a Bogey was something that came out of your nose.  Since my friend africankelli started dating a pro golfer I’ve had to get all kinds of lesson on how to read a golf score card from my coworkers.  Now I’ve got a little Rashell fan club going on in my work place, and today I’m going to my very first golf event EVER.  See you there Kel!

Home Makeover

One of my favorite rooms in our house is the master bath.  We painted that bathroom Golden Margarita Yellow.  Its such a fun party color and I told Ryan that if he touched those walls in the crazed redecorating phase he’s in right now I’d cry.

Yesterday the Decorating Lady from Home Depot came to our house to give us an estimate on replacing the pink carpet.  When she got to our bathroom she stopped horrified in the doorway.  “You didn’t PICK this color, did you?”  There goes her commission.

Believe it or not, that’s actually the second time in a WEEK that someone’s made a comment like that about our house.  I’m still mourning the loss of my jungle room.  My mom’s cousin came over this past weekend to check out the progress Ryan’s making on the house and when she saw that the green walls in the jungle room  had been painted over she said, “Well, I bet you guys are glad that green is gone.  I can’t believe the previous owner put that in there.”  Guess its a good thing I don’t have dreams of becoming an interior designer.

Atpanda Revealed

Many people use their blog as sort of a daily diary. Well, if you know me you know that I’m not exactly short on words, so it’s a wonder that I have a problem thinking up something to write about lots of days. I think its mostly because I assumed that the only people (all 5 of you) out there who read my blog already know every little piece of my life, for the most part.

I’ve had the same girlfriends forever. Some of them I’ve known since elementary school, some I’ve had boys in common with, all of us went to church camp together, a few of us went to the same high school and played the same sports. Well now we’re all grown up, some of us in old-married-couple relationships, hardly any of us go to church (*gasp*), and we all have picked completely different paths in life. We survive the daily grind by writing group emails all day. Those of us stuck behind a desk end up writing a LOT of group email. And when we’re not reading each other’s email, we’re reading each other’s blogs. (Oh and I can’t forget Zane visits here too! Hi Zane!)

Point being: it has come to my attention that there may be other people visiting my blog! I’ve arrived! I’ve had TWO WHOLE RANDOM COMMENTS!

So, an introduction: Hello! My name is Amanda. I’m an engineer for a large company. In my spare time I’m a full-time student in an MBA program. I met and married an adorable musician and prepared myself for a normal life with a high school band director husband. Until he decided to become a firefighter. We have two dogs, Karma D. Bear and Mika (pronounced MEEKA, other pronunciation: DEVIL), and Ryan has two ball pythons named Melody and Harmony. I enjoy a good dose of TV, including by not limited to The Amazing Race, CSI and my newly acquired obsession: Alias. I live in the same city I grew up in and sometimes I wish that I lived MUCH further away. I have a tiny house with a huge yard next to some kick ass neighbors in a neighborhood frequented by the ghetto bird and the occasional S.W.A.T. team. I’ve been known to drink on occasion (read: nightly), my favorite activity is being in the same room as my husband (which is rare), I love a good book, I wish I was a writer (don’t we all?), I love to cook, and my favorite food is artichoke.

Tell me about you!

InterStalk

Do you ever think about how incredibly weird it is that in the world of the Internet, bloggers are bigger than movie stars?  I get to work in the morning, turn on my computer, stick a cup of water in the microwave, then immediately check to see if Dooce has posted anything new about Leta, or if God has smited anyone today.  One of my girlfriends, a future famous blogger herself, once actually saw Fussy!  She immediately ran to a computer, emailed us girls, then wrote about the event on her own blog.

So what is this?  How is it that faceless, sometimes nameless, people have become so famous?  I actually feel like I KNOW Heather B. Armstrong.  Don’t you?  Don’t you fight the urge to email her because you’re sure she’ll care that you humiliate your dogs JUST LIKE SHE DOES TO CHUCK?

Today I was reading blogs randomly from the 2005 Bloggies site and I found another Heather.  She’s up for Best Overall Blog!  And she’s from New York!  And she’s funny!  And what’s this?!  She has the EXACT SAME BIRTHDAY AS ME.  And we both just celebrated our 26.5 birthday!  Well, of course I wrote her immediately because I’m sure we’re going to be fast friends.

I’d like to submit to the Urban Dictionary the following:  BlogStalk.  The act of obsessively reading the rantings of total strangers to the point of actually feeling invested in their lives.  Evidence of a BlogStalker is the following:  checking one blog more than 5 times in one day, writing a comment on a blog in the hope that the owner of said site is inspired to then reciprocate by visiting the Stalker’s blog, or writing a blog post which shamelessly links to the writer’s favorite blogs.
