Now They’re Busing Them In

Look, I consider myself to be someone who is understanding of the fact that people have different beliefs than I do.  I would never dream of attempting to change someone’s way of thinking.  Trying to force someone to your way of thinking is the most self righteous thing someone can do.  I would hope that everyone respects people by respecting their beliefs, but I find too often that people feel the need to try to fix me, or to show me the right way.

It is for this reason that I have a serious issue with door-knockers.  Not 2 months goes by without Mormon missionaries stopping by to try to convert us.  Neighborhood churches come by often to try to get us to go to a service on Sunday.  And just last night a young man came to our door saying he was ‘working on a scholarship’.  He then proceeded to try to convince us to take religious literature.  But tonight takes the cake.

Can you tell what this horribly dark and blurry picture shows?

That’s right, that’s a BUS parked in front of my house.  If I haven’t made it clear yet, my neighborhood is not the best, so when a stranger knocks on our door at 8pm in pitch dark, Ryan is quickly on the defensive.  When he opened the door they immediately started in with their pitch and Ryan was so angry that he was actually slightly rude to them, which is unlike him.

I took the picture from behind a pillar in front of our house because these people had engulfed our neighborhood and were at almost every door.  Like a religious invasion.

Here’s the deal:  most people are reasonably intellegent and capable of making smart, well-informed descisions which are appropriate to them.  What makes people think that scaring me half to death late at night is going to convince me to change beliefs that I’ve had for most of my life?  Anyone?

Are you freaking kidding me? I’d be extremely upset about that…I don’t blame Ryan for being ’slightly’ rude.. I don’t think I’d blame you for ’sicking’ the dogs on them..

Um, that is completely insane. Did you consider stuffing a potato into their tailpipe?

You’re moving because the dogs next door bark? Lol! That is a good reason to move… ;) I’m guessing there are other reasons. I loved the picture of yr dog "helping" with the yardwork. :)

Hi…you don’t know me, I am a friend of Jen’s (Pelletier). She was telling me about your bus problem…I was wondering if you could give me more info on the bus. Is it still there? My ex is a vagabond and lives in a bus. Don’t know where he is right now…
Can you see the license plate? Is it Alaska? Just wondering…oh and does it have ivy curtains?
    Thanks…

I’ve tried to hide before when they ring my doorbell…I can’t stand it and I’m so non confrontational, I tend to let them talk wayyyyy too long.

  5. Want to know what works against raging zombie like religious Zealouts? Tell them you are buddhist. I have used this many times and usually they have nothing to say…..but……the real reason I am here writing….is because….back in the day I was a friend of Ryan’s….though I have not talked to or seen him since the wedding of you two…I have often wondered what he has been up to….or better yet…what you both have been up to…..does he still play sax?…or just the water hoses puting out the fires? My nams is travis. Tell him I say hello. Thank you.

i try to look at it as a compliment. they’re trying to save my soul and keep me from going to hell, so i guess that means they care.

my brother had a way of dealing with jehova’s witnesses. he would let them go into their spiel at the door and then take off his shirt. when they would stop talking and ask what was wrong, he’d encourage them to keep going. he proceded to keep removing articles of clothing until they got scared and left or he was naked in the doorway.

    whichever came first ;)
